Tamil celebs top the list of LPG gas sop sacrificersThere are numerous posts doing rounds on social media on the call of our central government to sacrifice the subsidy for LPG so that people who rally deserve subsidy would be benefitted. Many such posts argue why we should forego LPG sop, while politicians in India enjoy various sops for travelling to comfort.

Keeping aside the discussions on public money spent on politicians’ sops, here we have something to take a leaf from Tamil film celebrities like Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam, Prabhu, Chinmayi and others. All of them voluntarily declared giving up LPG subsidy, while politicians even didn’t take the call seriously barring a few.

Approximately 42,032 customers from Tamil Nadu gave up gas subsidy accounting to 8% of the country’s gas consumers who surrendered their subsidy. That means these consumers are going to pay market price for their LPG gas cylinders. Coming to social responsibility, cine celebrities seem to be setting a good example for politicians who feign ignorance avoiding giving away sops.
