telangana-harish-rao trsTelangana government is hell bent on continuing the Power production in Srisailam Left canal despite the orders of Krishna River Board. Telangana irrigation minister Harish Rao clarified that Power Production is the major priority for the government now than the priorities of drinking and irrigation use of the future.

He refused the Andhra Pradesh government’s offer of 300 MW power to stop the production and offered to stop it for a whopping 800 MW. This is a ridiculous demand and indicates that Telangana government only wants to further aggravate the issue. Harish Rao even turned out the request of AP government to pump back the used water back in to the reservoir instead of allowing it to flow in to the sea saying that it will be not be economically feasible them.

Political experts say politicizing the issue will only lead to more troubles for Telangana in coming summer when Andhra Pradesh will have the first say over the usage of Nagarjuna Sagar water for the next crop season.
