The management at the L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad is of the opinion that the Telangana government is trying to make its chief executive and managing director V.B. Gadgil a scapegoat in the project controversy. It is known that the government and the concessionaire were at loggerheads over various issues and one of the letters written by Mr.Gadgil about the project being not viable after bifurcation and the company wanting to come out of the project is leaked to the media put the government on back foot.
According to L&T, government wants the company to scrape Gadgil making him the reason for this fiasco. This move will make sure the government brushing the issue under carpet. However L&T is reportedly not interested in damaging its reputation in the open market by taking the blame on itself. L&T also released a press note that V.B. Gadgil met Telangana Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma along with L&T Metro Rail chairman Y.M. Deosthalee on October 13 when Central Additional Secretary and chairman of Project Monitoring Group Anil Swaroop held a meeting at Secretariat. It was leaked to media that Mr. Swaroop heaved the blame of the entire controversy on to Gadgil. But the company clarified that he only merely enquired the absence of Mr. Gadgil at the meeting and was not reprimanded for his absence as publicized in some sections of media.
