The Hyderabad Metro Rail Project is resulting in tussle after tussle between Telangana government and project concessionaire Larsen & Toubro (L&T). The latest issue is that both the parties are not able to decide on an agency to provide security for the project.
L&T wants a time-tested agency such as the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which currently mans the Delhi Metro while the state government is pressing up on using the locally raised Special Protection Force (SPF).
The government had already finalized the modalities of security and L&T is very disappointed with the political intervention in sensitive issues like Security. The three tier security cover will comprise of asset protection, law and order, and anti-terrorist cover. Telangana government is insisting on locally raised SPF so as to provide job opportunities for the locals, with the security cover expected to need more than 5,000 personnel.
