It is known to our readers that the Telangana government had planned to go Delhi’s way by dividing the existing Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in to three corporations – Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Cyberabad municipal corporations.
However several technical issues prompted the government from withdrawing the proposal and is currently working on increasing the number of wards from 150 to 200.This division will also bring political benefits to TRS as the party is planning to capture power of corporation.
The delimitation will also delay the GHMC elections as it involves delimitation of divisions, reservation of divisions and election schedule. Experts say the ruling party do not want to go to the election until 2016 here. Government is planning to establish its hold in the corporation until then. As of now, the TRS does not have representation in the 150-ward corporation.
