3 new airports in telanganaTelangana government which announced the grand plans of building a greenfield airport in every district of the state had abandonned the idea for now due to funds crunch and is planning to concentrate on only three new airports.

These three new airports were planned at Warangal, Kothagudem and Adilabad. There is an airport located at Mamnur in Warangal district, constructed several decades ago and is defunct now. There are no allocations for modernizing it from ages. KCR government is planning to release funds for another 438 acres need for the airport expansion.

The government had also written to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) seeking technical expertise for identifying suitable locations for airports at Kothagudem and Adilabad. All these three airports will be developed on the Public-Private Partnership. But private developers may not be very interested as traffic to Kothagudem and Adilabad would be very less
