Telangana Chief Minister’s idea of Swachh Hyderabad may be a good intention and good start but it needs to go a long way to make the city clean. Political leaders, local police and officials still do not take the program seriously and are only posing for pictures.
In most of the times, only one or two main lanes in an area are cleaned and the Sub-lanes are being left out. The officials are concentrating more on the areas usually travelled by the Chief Minister to impress him. There are several areas in Old City where this program is totally a non-starter, forget about Swachh Hyderabad, sweeping is done once in two weeks here, with garbage getting piled up in every lane.
On the other side, sanitation experts and few enthusiasts feel that this campaign is creating an impression that it is only the responsibility of the government to keep the city clean with out proper awareness programs to educate citizens that it is their responsibility too.
