What is the film about?
Those who have seen the trailer should already know what the film is about. To those who haven’t it’s the story of a guy called Surya who suffers from a rare disease that prevents any contact with sunlight. What happens when that guy falls in love is what the film is about.
How is Nikhil’s performance?
Hero Nikhil always had a great ease in terms of body language which became his problem after few films. One of the biggest comforting factors apart from his choice of films in the past few films has been his whole body language and presentation. It is greatly controlled and very well polished. This presentation has given him a complete new personality on screen and Surya Vs Surya makes great use of this new persona. Nikhil is highly effective in the comic scenes and decent in the one emotional scene. He needs to further prep up to his dramatic act to create a bigger impact going forward.
Direction By Karthik Ghattamaneni?
Direction by debutant Karthik Ghattamaneni is decent. He had an interesting premise and that is all the film has. Most of the film is filled with comedy sequences and they have been executed well when it comes to the core love story one gets a boring feeling, especially in the second half. The emotional scenes should have been strongly handled. Overall the interesting premise coupled with comedy covers up the initial half but it soon runs of gas and the director falters.
Tridha Chowdary and others performance?
Performances by heroines are usually restricted to glamour show. Here Tridha gets a character but still she doesn’t make it stand out. She is good looking but that’s it about her. Tanikella Bharani and Sathya play part of hero’s small friend’s gang and it these two characters and performances that shine and remain with us even after the completion of the show. Tanikella Bharani goes a bit overboard at times but it’s fine. Following them closely is senior actress Madhubala. Her performance oscillates between gyrating on the nerves to really pitch perfect. Others characters played by Tagubothu Ramesh, Mast Ali, Shayaji Shinde etc are interesting but short lived.
Music and other departments?
Music by Satya Mahaveer is decent with one song standing out. Unsurprisingly the song has been used throughout as major BGM. Editing is good in patches. Cinematography is good. Dialogues are fine, especially the comic one’s written from the troika.

Dragging second half.
Repetitiveness after a point.
Predictable and forced climax.
Alternative take:
As said above the film has an interesting premise which should have been used more. One never feels any real tension for the lead actor. He is never stretched or a has a real issue. Giving him a serious threat with strong substance would have surely helped the second half a great deal.
