This trend started in Telugu with Johnny but for a long time it was limited to that film only with few other stars promising films for refund. Today this trend has reached peaks what with multiple films getting sold for record prices and failing. Recently Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu are in news again courtesy there huge disasters.
Distributors are reportedly going to meet in Film Chamber to discuss on the issue. But many in the trade feel this is bad trend as filmmaking is a gamble the distributors are willing to take. They don’t share profits then why relieve them of the loss? Instead why not buy the film initially based on the content rather than getting it at fancy price is what everyone wants to ask them. They do have a point, don’t they?
