SRISAILAM_projectThe other day Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao had confirmed that the state will not stop producing power from Srisailam Left Canal come what may.He told the media that Telangana government is doing that to save the crops of Telangana farmers but Krishna River Board has bigger shock in store for the government.

It has dashed a letter to Telangana government that the water now used for Power production will be counted in the Telangana’s water share.

This move will decrease the water availability in Telangana both for drinking and irrigation purpose. If Telangana continues to produce power, it may well exhaust its water share for the summer and there will be a big crisis looming large for Southern Telangana both for drinking and irrigation use.

Krishna River Board has reminded Telangana government that Drinking and Irrigation purposes are primary objectives of Srisailam project and deviating from the agreements will mean that they are only degenerating the river board powers which will cause more problems going further.
