Sridevi gets the prestigious award

The iconic actress Sridevi, who made a phenomenal return with the super hit film ‘English Vinglish’, has been awarded the Padma Shri Award, which is the fourth highest national honor in India, this year to acknowledge her outstanding work in the film industry.

The award was also won by Telugu producer Bapu, whose movies are famous for their Telugu nativity. The filmmaker, who has achieved several National Awards, made a comeback with ‘Sri Ramarajyam’, a Balakrishna starrer film.

The Padma Shri award has been obtained by superstars like Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore earlier. This year’s selection commission included scientist Anil Kakodkar, home secretary R K Singh and the well-accomplished actress Ratna Pathak Shah.
