Union Urban Development Minister, Venkaiah Naidu reaffirmed that his government is committed to the Special Status promised to Andhra Pradesh during the state bifurcation but do not commit on any time frame for according the special status to the truncated state. In a special interview to a National Newspaper, Venkaiah spoke of the delay.

“We are committed to the special status as promised by the then Prime Minister during the bifurcation. But there is a procedure to follow. There should be a cabinet meeting and the cabinet should approve the proposal. It will then forward it to the planning commission and finally National Development Council should convene and sanction it. It is some 100+ days we have been, there are several problems in the entire country, we are solving them one by one”, Venkaiah said. The BJP Top Brass leader from Andhra Pradesh also confirmed that Center will surely help in building AP’s capital once the proposal are sent.
