Allu Arjun Son Of Satyamurthy ReviewWhat is the film about?
The story of the film is something that we all might have guessed by now, it is about a son Viraaj Anand (Allu Arjun) doing whatever is required to clear the debt of his father Satyamurthy and restore pride to his name through his values.

How is Allu Arjun’s performance?
Allu Arjun is improving from film by film and with this film we can see further ease in his overall action. There was a bit of stiffness in some parts where he acted a certain way but he got better as he progressed. In emotional scenes he is alright and there is a lot of scope to improve for sure. Now if only he could control his ‘stylish’ bits, it would add a lot to his screen presence. Dances are mostly casual and nothing extraordinary here. He has tried a different kind of modulation in delivering a dialogue however one is not sure if it would click like ‘Daevuda’ from his previous film. This often irritates and negates with the good work done otherwise.

Trivikram Srinivas Son Of Satyamurthy ReviewDirection By Trivikram Srinivas?
Trivikram Srinivas by default appears to be the weak link and most of it is due to the reputation that he has created. Trivikram has been losing his writing touch and it has been evident in his last few films as well but here he plunges to a new low in that department. The real killer blow though is the direction which one thought he had tremendously improved courtesy his previous film but he is back to square one with Son of Satyamurthy.

Barring the main lead character he has not been able to extract convincing performances from the rest of the cast. It is a major disappointment considering the huge talent pool he had on offer. Most of the screenplay looked contrived and the weak writing further pounded the effect. The ‘Viluvale Asthi’ message was good and feels timely in the current days but the way he has led to that realization through the screenplay makes one unsettled if not truly cringe. It’s still fun in a tacky sort of way with low repeat value but that is not what one would be expecting from a writer of the caliber of Trivikram. They might feel good if one ignores the sensational past stuff from the writer but one can’t undo the past and the expectations that arise of it, can they?

Samantha Son Of Satyamurthy ReviewSamantha, Nithya Menon, Sneha and others performance?
Samantha is typical dumb bimbo that we see as heroine in Trivikram films. There is nothing in the film for her performance wise and even the fun act feels repetitive. The film boasted of a solid cast in terms of character actors with presence of people like Upendra, Rajendra Prasad, Sneha and Nithya Menen. And this is ultimately the biggest disappointment from the movie and from the director. He has not been able to etch one memorable character from this ensemble cast. The fact that none among them stay with us after the end of screening should be enough to talk about their impact. It’s the same with comedians Ali and Brahmanandam. Adah Sharma, Rao Ramesh and MS Narayana belong to a segment which looked like filler for actual story but in the end one feels that they have got better leverage out of all the actors present. What is more frustrating is that they all start with a promise like the Rajendra Prasad character for example.

Devisri Prasad Son Of Satyamurthy ReviewMusic and other departments?
Music by Devi Sri Prasad was strictly average. Even the background score goes on similar pattern. Editing is mixed bag as the narration could have been even tighter with better work in this department. Cinematography is good and so is choreography for couple of songs.

Drawbacks Son Of Satyamurthy ReviewAlternative take:
Before the release the pre-release reports doing the rounds were that the film is heavy on sentiment. Now that one has watched the film there is a feeling about how those reports were actually true. Lack of enough heart touching scenes with Trivikram mark dialogues is the biggest problem of the film. The thing with that ‘mark’ is that it not only tugs the heart in an emotional way but ease with which its conveyed makes repeat viewing a joy. Here we have those emotional scenes alright but they lack that magic. An alternative take would be a film simply with that magic intact.

Did I enjoy it?
Yes in parts.

Will you recommend it?
Yes but not wholeheartedly
