smita-sabarval The severe shortage of IAS Officers is taking a heavy toll on both the Telugu States as the division of such officers is yet to be finalized by the Center. Among all the IAS officers in Telangana, Smita Sabharwal is the most sought. She earned high accolades when she was the Collector of Medak and Karimnagar districts. Knowing her strong background, K Chandra Sekhar Rao immediately appointed her as the Additional Secretary to Chief Minister as soon as he assumed office.

But off late there are demands from various quarters of the state to relieve her from the Chief Minister’s office and appoint as the Collector of Nalgonda district. Many believe her administrative capabilities can solve the Flouride problem of the district. We will have to see what the Chief Minister decides!

On the other side, Telangana Collectors were pressed in to the daunting task of educating farmers not to go for paddy cultivation which is water intensive, but sow irrigated dry crops in rabi. With the south west and north east monsoon failing and the power crisis looming large on the newest state, the government issued an advisory to farmers not to go for paddy cultivation.
