Getting ready wearing my track pants, your Mirchi Gossip Girl set out jogging towards her favourite DIRT free park at the end of the road. Sitting on the bench, I was bewildered to see a big lorry of DIRT being emptied at one corner of the park.
A brigade of activists (wearing uniform) came from nowhere suddenly and started shovelling away the DIRT and dry leaves spreading all over the park and to different corners of the park. Within minutes, the spot clean park was made DIRTY by the DIRT carted from elsewhere and posters ‘SWACHH Bharat’ also came in.
Then came in a truck with brooms and baskets. Then followed a line of politicians and cine folks wearing DIRTless Swachh Bharat T shirts. Each was supplied with a broom and a basket. But no one made attempt to clean the DIRT. Ending the wait another brigade of photographers were transported in, to capture the DIRT.
Suddenly from somewhere someone said, ‘Action’ and all those brooms started footballing the DIRT from one place to another actually cleaning nothing. Once the cameras started flashing once again everyone’s broom hit DIRT and faces posed smiles.
Flashing cameras, raining selfies, mouthing slogans, mini interviews and flying DIRT made an excellent politico-cine drama. Once the photo session is done with, immediately the brooms were thrown away and the celebrities stopped smiling to save their smiles for another photo session, getting ready to leave the place in a hurry. Surprisingly this time no one said, ‘Cut’.
Within minutes everyone left but leaving the poor DIRT leftover. The brigade of activists too left taking away the brooms and baskets alongwith ‘SWACHH Bharat’ posters. I turned my head around to see if any truck or lorry is coming to carry away the DIRT to some other place. Nay.
Next day when I saw a lorry speeding towards my favourite park, I thought another ‘SWACHH Bharat’ drama will be enacted. I was wrong. At the park, the GHMC sweepers sweated thrice their day’s work to remove DIRT and once they left, a few people jumped down the lorry and filled the valuable DIRT to empty it elsewhere for SWACHH Bharat’.
