Resting areas for drivers in APState government is planning to build resting areas on National highways for drivers who drive very long. The government is of the opinion that the drivers should rest every 100 kms and is planning to build these resting areas all along the National highways in the state.

The resting zones for drivers will have all amenities, including parking spaces, lounges, commercial complexes and toilets. This intiative is aimed at bringing down the road accidents. According to the government reports, 78.43 percent of accidents occur due to drivers’ fault.

Of the total accidents, 74 percent happen due to drunk driving and over-speeding. The state government is also keen on decreasing or partial removal of boards of wine/liquor shops on highways.
