A lot of protest was raised when the possibility of Rajinikant was teaming up with producer and independent MLA from Bidar Ashok Kheny to make a film based on the life of great Tipu Sultan came out. When Kheny expressed his desire to have Rajinikanth in the role of Tipu Sultan in his new film, it led to a controversy with protesters asking Rajinikanth not to take up the role.
Kheny has finally spoken up about the controversy and the allegations of Tipu being anti-Hindu. According to him, these accusations are rubbish considering the fact that Tipu used to visit the Vishnu temple in Srirangapatna every morning and has even built a Lingayat temple there.
As for protesters asking Rajini not to take up the film, Kheny says that it was in fact Rajini’s idea to go for a film on Tipu Sultan as both Hindus and Muslims supported him against the British. And for the hardliners deterring him, Kheny said that he is not afraid of them.
