ar rahman Rio Olympics Goodwill ambassadorTop music director A.R. Rahman, who won an Oscar for his music score in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ will soon receive another remarkable honour. The talented singer will soon be awarded with one of Japan’s most prominent prizes, the Fukuoka prize for 2016. We hear that the award is a result of his consistent and wonderful efforts towards the creation, preservation, and rightful presentation of South Asian traditional fusion music.

The singer, who is also a BAFTA award holder, won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score, and a Broadcast Film Critics Association award holder, gained worldwide recognition and acclaim for composing music for the Oscar winning movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

Aside from this highly prestigious Japanese award, the music writer also has a Malaysian Award and a Mauritius National Award up his sleeve, both of which he won in 1995 for his immense contributions to the music industry.
