The common capital city of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh is experiencing power woes. The immense growth of the city is contributing to the increase in power consumption. While the consumption is estimated to increase at the rate of 10 percent per annum, Hyderabad is going on at 16 percent increase. Besides having deficit power, the city also do not have proper infrastructure for power transmission.

The city needs to have about 1000 transformer while now it has only 300 of them. There is a dire need of installing new transmission lines, feeders and transformers. Also there existing feeder and transformer capacity should be increased to meet the needs of the city. The existing system does not support the current load and is constantly breaking down. Telangana government should gear up to increase in the infrastructural facilities of the city lest there should be a power crisis looming large.
