KCRTelangana Assembly burst over the issue of renaming domestic terminal of Shamshabad Airport on Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao’s name. Congress MLAs have staged a protest and disrupted proceedings of the house for taking down the name of Rajiv Gandhi while TDP MLAs objected to it. Amid this confusion, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao rose from his seat and issued a statement regarding this issue.

“This is a calamity thrown on Telangana state by the Center. We have been suffering Andhra dominance for several years but it is continuing even after the separate statehood is achieved. People wants to rename all the existing Andhra names here and we are slowly considering one after the other. At this time, naming our Airport after an Andhra leader is inappropriate”, KCR said.

The Chief Minister called all the MLAs and leaders of all the parties to come together on this issue and send a representation to the Union government to stop this name change. Interestingly, KCR is in all praises for Rajiv Gandhi and his sacrifice to the nation while calling NTR as an Andhra leader.
