Hyderabad police commissioner to Additional Commissioners and DCPs of all zones going forward will be in touch with citizens on Twitter. Already the Twitter profiles are created and the initial response was just overwhelming. The Police bosses have decided that citizens can lodge a police complaint or bring any issue relating to law and order to their notice via a tweet.
This move also helps rumour mongering as citizens can directly approach Police bosses about rumours floating on social media and social messengers like Whatsapp, Viber etc. The Hyderabad Police have taken cue of this social media policing from their Bengaluru counterparts.
Already the Hyderabad Traffic Police are very active on Facebook updating information such as traffic snarls that take place in different places, junctions and congested localities of the city, guide the motor vehicle riders to take alternative routes.
