The Power deficit Telangana state is being hit with various other factors too. The state’s people as well as industries are reeling under heavy power cuts despite the rains. The major problem of Telangana occured due to AP government’s strategical move to cancel the Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and thereby refusing share of the power in projects present in AP.

Telangana government is ambitiously working to purchase power from Chhattisgarh government. But there is no line from Telangana to Chhattisgarh and the line construction will take at least two and half years to complete. Telangana government has thought of buying power from Northen states through Sholapur-Raichur line. But Tamil Nadu government acted swiftly in this issue and booked 2000MW power from Northern states for the next 25 years. So this option is almost closed for Telangana.

In the wake of Power scarcity, Telangana government is keen on producing 6000MW power from new plants over the next 3 years. KCR is planning 4 Power plants of 6400 MW capacity in the next 3 years but officials say miracles should happen to make this possible in the next 4 years. Considering all this there seem to be no respite for Telangana’s power problems in immediate future.
