narendra modi visit to silicon valley in californiaEver since Narendra Modi was appointed as the Prime Minister, he has been working towards building better relations with several other nations by diplomatic visits and according to reports, he has planned a visit to the Silicon Valley in California in September. With this trip, the PM will receive the title of second Indian Prime Minister to visit California, the first one being none other than the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru.

Nehru’s visit to San Francisco, California, in the year 1949, was mostly for political purposes but Modi’s visit will be centred on business. Silicon Valley, world famous as a hub for technology and well-known as the starting point for many companies, has attracted our PM for numerous reasons.

According to a survey, out of all the start-up companies in the Silicon Valley, 15% of them have founders or co-founders of Indian origin. Intel’s ex-vice-president, Vinod Dham talked about the Silicon Valley stating, ”I hope his time is not monopolised by billionaires and big companies. Silicon Valley is so much more than that. It is the culture of start-ups and the enabling ecosystem that makes it what it is.”
