Music director turned director RP Patnaik has been an on and off director as far direction is concerned. But one thing that is common among all his films, failure included, is that they have an interesting premise. Manalo Okadu is another example of it.
The film takes a bold topic that is visible to everyone in current times, media. Manalo Okadu is about the media ego where one man takes on it. The trailer makes this very obvious with the nail on the head kind of quality. Sai Kumar is a good choice for the role but once again looks like RP Patnaik might be overreaching with his acting. It was fine in Broker because it didn’t require great histrionics but in Manalo Okadu it looks like the character requires heavy duty drama where he would be a misfit.
