Andhra employes on local statusHere is a good news for AP government employees in Hyderabad. The Union Law ministry had confirmed that change in the local status rule need not happen with an amendment to Article 371D but can be done with President’s consent for a resolution sent by the state cabinet.

Accordingly Andhra Pradesh cabinet will adopt a resolution in the cabinet meeting and send it to the President. Pranab Mukherjee is likely to take the opinion of Union Law Ministry before giving his consent. After that the children of employees shifting from Hyderabad to Amaravati will become local to the new capital region.

Employees currently fear will become ‘non-local’ when they migrate to Vijayawada and Guntur. As a result, their educational and job opportunities will be affected. This will enable government employees to shift to the capital region with out the fear of losing the local status.
