Controversies just does not seem to be leaving the Hyderabad Metro Project. Now there is a new scam sprouting up involving the government. It is alleged that the government is acquiring more than required lands for the project. It is said that the requirement of the project is 269 acres but the government has acquired 879 acres near Nagole and 410 acres in Miyapur. But L&T, the concessionaire of the project says it has been given only 104 acres in Nagole and 96 acres in Miyapur. The company is going to use 18.5 million sq feet of this allotted land for commercial development near stations and parking lots.

The questions now are why is the government collecting the excess lands? There is documented evidence that 70 acres of prime land which is not a part of agreement of the project is allocated to L&T. Majority of these allegations point fingers towards the Kiran Kumar Reddy’s regime in the United State. Demands are loud to probe in to all these allegations so that the politicians and bureaucrats involved can be brought before law.
