It is known that the Telangana government has vowed to create the biggest land bank ever in the newest state of the country to facilitate the industrial needs as well as the government’s flagship schemes of free housing and free lands to Dalits.
One of the major problems in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy for that matter any prominent cities in the country is the encroachments of the government lands. This problem is very severe in both these districts and Telangana government had constituted a special cell called ‘Land protection cell’ exclusively to deal with land encroachment cases and to protect valuable government and Wakf lands.
According to the preliminary reports available with the government, more than 18000 acres of lands were encroached in these two districts alone. The Task force comprises of 44 personnel – inspectors, head constables, and constables from the police department who will assist the revenue officials in the cell in dealing with the encroachments.
There are several complaints of the encroachers attacking the revenue officials when they go for field checks making it very difficult for them to do their duty. It is now the responsibility of these police personnel to ensure the revenue officials are protected.
