What is “Kulfi” about?
The film is a thriller centered around cell phone and illegal medicine smuggling. There is a love story thrown amidst all the mayhem In equal measures.
How is Jai’s performance?
Jai is getting stereotyped in the kind of roles he is playing. At least that’s the impression one gets watching his dubbed movies. He is perfectly suitable for the role of course and makes one connect to it pretty easily. Its just way he is in terms of screen presence that lends that credibility although there is not much performance wise.
Direction by Saravana Rajan?
Direction by Saravana Rajan is okay. He has taken what can be termed as typical Tamil formula plot which shows us a chain of illegal happenings pertaining to a field and then throw some thriller element in it. The director fails in making a cohesive narrative using this formula. The love track and the drug racket thriller doesn’t gel well together. In the end it feels like one is watching two different films.
Swathi, Sunny Leone and other artists performance?
Swathi is generally seen doing small quirky films where she has a prominent role or she is at the center of the narrative. Unfortunately that is not the case here as she is relegated to a tiring character that one wishes wasn’t present in the film at all. When looked purely in terms of performance Swathi has played the initially reluctant but eventually nagging girl friend perfectly well. RJ Balaji playing Ganesh character has come out very well and thanks to the dialogues and situations he is the one who clearly registers. The much hyped Sunny Leone item number was clearly for hype purpose only as it failed to make an impact. It was clearly forced into the narrative as an afterthought.
How is Vivek, Mervin and Yuvan Shankar Raja’s Music and other departments ?
Music has been composed by Vivek and Mervin with Yuvan Shankar Raja being guest composer. Barring a song nothing registers. Background score too feels jaded. Editing is okay. Cinematography is fine considering the scale of the film.

What about the box office performance of the film?
Barring the promotion featuring Sunny Leone there has been nothing done to make people aware of the film. The film will be a non starter and end that way.

Very few comedy scenes.
