Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao undertook his first long road journey of about five hours. Instead of opting for a helicopter from Hyderabad to Bhadrachalam, the Chief Minister traveled on road by deploying 2,000 police personnel right from the rank of IGP to homeguard all along the way.
The entire route from Hyderabad to Bhadrachalam turned in to a fortress with the security measures. Bomb Detection Squads have sanitized the entire stretch between Bhadrachalam and Manuguru as the Chief Minister’s convoy had to pass through some erstwhile naxal strongholds.
It is said that KCR wants to observe the topography and infrastructural facilities of Khammam districts where TRS is normally very weak. It was almost eight years since Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao had traveled such a long distance and also no Chief Minister in the last two decades had undertaken a road journey to Bhadrachalam.
