Telangana Rashtra Samiti may be against the Andhra settlers in Telangana State but TRS government is trying to squeeze more funds from the Central Government citing migrants. In the presentation to the 14th Finance Commission, KCR government had revealed that there are 37 Lakhs of migrants from Seema Andhra and other states in Telangana state forming 18% of the state population. These numbers often do not reflect in the state population numbers. The government stated that migrant population results in additional commitments on the part of Telangana.

Since in our country there should not be any discrimination in providing public services to the citizens irrespective of the state, Telangana may be provided more funds to honour the migrants. Telangana government also faulted with the Finance Commission’s dependence on 1971 census for devolution of taxes and duties and grants-in-aids, since the population changes rapidly from then to now. KCR government argued that the migrant population only increased from 80s and the census of 2011 should be considered going further.
