Chandrababu-vs-kcrTelangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao has announced that his government will be going to the Supreme court to get a share in the power produced by Krishnapatnam project which will start very soon. M9.news had spoken to senior employee in APTRANSO regarding the issue and what the outcome of the court judgement could be. Here is what he said.

“Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act speaks of two things regarding power. AP which has more power projects in its geography should honour all the Power Purchase Agreements in force in the United State and the second thing is that any surplus power from AP should go to Telangana itself as first priority. There is no question of surplus power for AP right now. And coming to the PPAs, AP has to honour all the PPAs that are approved by the ERC before the bifurcation. There are some PPAs which are put forth but not approved. The Act does not say anything about unapproved PPAs. AP has all rights to withdraw them and ask ERC not to approve them. Naturally the case is clear and AP government will win it in Supreme court”.

KCR had mentioned there are 1050 Crores of Telangana investments in Krishnapatnam project. On this he says, “Yes Telangana may have its investments for that it can claim a share in the project equity but not power. If you have shares in Reliance Gas company. You can not ask for a share in gas. You will get share in equity, dividends etc”.
