Telangana government has decided not to fish down the 11 Bronze statutes of famous Telugu personalities which were destroyed and thrown in to Hussainsagar during the Million March last year. Under the then Kiran Kumar Reddy’s government, the Department of culture planned to fish out the statues with the help of the Indian Navy. But Telangana Chief Minister reportedly ordered the department not to waste money on ‘useless’ affairs as he describes them.

The statues of Brahma Naidu, Bellary Raghava, Sir Arthur Cotton, Krishnadevaraya, Annamacharya, Gurajada Appa Rao, Kandukuri Veereshalingam Pantulu, Yerrapragada, Raghupati Venkatratnam Naidu, Siddendrayogi, Mutnuri Krishna Rao and Tripuraneni Ramaswamy Choudhry were damaged and dumped in to Hussainsagar by Telangana agitators as they alleged that they symbolize ‘Andhra Hegemony’. When asked about the issue, a member of Department of Culture said, “KCR already clarified what those statues mean to Telangana. The issue is closed now. Anyways, new statues are already installed in places of those”.
