KCR Potti Sreeramulu Tanguturi PrakasamWhile for sometime it has been the fate of the statues standing on the Tankbund disputed, now it seems to be the turn of the portraits. Be it a statue or a portrait, if it has any connection with Andhra region, undoubtedly in KCR’s sircar it has every chance to go for disconnection. The life size portraits of the revered leaders are going to be removed even before the fate of the Tankbund statues is decided.

During the review meeting for the forthcoming budget sessions, it was brought to the notice of KCR that the main Assembly Committee Hall has the portraits of Tanguturi Prakasham Panthulu and Potti Sreeramulu adorned on its walls. Immediately KCR ordered the removal of the Andhra leaders’ portraits and it was learnt that KCR opines these portraits need to be removed because they have no connection with Telangana affairs though they are great for the people of Andhra.

But the fact remains that before being appointed as the CM of composite State of Madras and later for Andhra State, Tanguturi Prakasham was the freedom fighter and a true Gandhian who bared his chest before the British soldiers challenging them to shoot him. His portrait alongwith Potti Sriramulu’s will be removed and kept in safe custody and if asked will be handed over for AP Assembly. Mahatma Gandhi portrait would replace these portraits in the Assembly committee hall no.1.
