Taking a cue from Chandra Babu Naidu’s government in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao is also thinking on the lines of banning Adarsha Rythu program in the state. KCR is discussing about a prospective abolishing of this program which was a pet program of late YS Raja Sekhar Reddy. The program was implement in 2007 by the then Congress government with an intention to create awareness in farmers about agriculture extension.

YSR however used the program to benefit Congress cadre. Instead of opting for well qualified people for the work, Congress cadre is given the job. Each Adarsha Rythu will be given remuneration of 1000 per month and also their recommendation became necessary for farmers to get agricultural benefits. Subsequent Chief Ministers also used the program for the farmers’ benefits. Recently TDP government banned the program and now KCR is thinking on similar lines.
