Kavuri resigns; eyeing BJP

Senior Congress leader Kavuri Samba Siva Rao resigned to his Union Ministry. He sent his resignation letter to the Prime Minister stating he is extremely displeased with the way center bifurcated the state. Samba Siva Rao earlier tried joining Telugu Desam Party but was denied entry due to the stiff resistance from the local TDP leaders. He is reportedly eyeing BJP now. Samba Siva Rao, a senior parliamentarian and close aide of Gandhi family since Indira Gandhi, became the Union Textile Minister on June 17th, 2013

With no guarantee for ticket, Kavuri’s political career becoming uncertain. His loyalists and cadre are slowly decimating. A key functionary, Kamineni Srinivas from Kaikalur, recently joined the BJP while Ghanta Murali Ramakrishna, who became the chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Irrigation Development Board with the Minister’s blessings, is heading towards YSR Congress. Decimation of cadre is also seen in Denduluru, Eluru, Nuzvid, Polavaram and Ungutur segments.
