Vizag-city-crime-rate

The Hudhud Cyclone if at all have any positive effect on the people of Vishakapatnam, it can be this – the city has witnessed very less number of crimes in the last five days. There are very few FIRs registered in the city over the last few days and the registered ones are mostly about deaths and property thefts or property damage issues related to cyclone. In the first couple of days, there were complaints about shop liftings but those were also controlled.

The prisons officials say that there are zero remands since past few days in Visakhapatnam and similar situation is in the neighbouring districts of Uttarandhra too. However few say that the complaints have come down as communication networks were down and most of the people are forced to remain at their homes due to nature’s fury. Owing to the decrease of the crime rate, the Police department is deployed in various parts of the city to monitor and participate in the relief works. Few of them were also deployed for the protection of the Chief Minister who is camping in the city from the time the Cyclone hit.
