Hyderabad High Court has issued notices to Telangana Government and Central Government on the intensive household survey held in the state couple of months ago. A petitioner approached the court complaining that the government has handed over the work of Survey’s data entry to private organizations which will be a threat to the privacy and security of the data. The high court has asked both the governments to file counters in this issue in the next four weeks.

The Intensive Household Survey of Telangana State has covered 1,05,89,929 families which is 27% more than the 2001 Census. Government says the census of 2001 is too old to understand the needs of the state and this data is expected to give government clear idea of the requirements of the people and the beneficiaries of various welfare schemes to be taken up by the government going forward.About 4 Lakh employees with the help of several students and staff of various private organizations have completed the country’s biggest state-level Survey in a single day.
