high court judgement on entry taxTelangana state’s controversial decision of imposing Entry Tax on Andhra Pradesh’s vehicles has now reached the High Court. Few Private Operators of the state had knocked the door of the court regarding the tax and the petition was taken up this Afternoon.

AP Lawyers claimed that Telangana state can not levy Entry Tax on Andhra Pradesh vehicles as Hyderabad is being shared as the common capital for the next 10 years. However Telangana government lawyers said they are not collecting Permit Tax but are only imposing Entry Tax in their geographical boundaries.

The court had provided relief for the petitioners till the next hearing on Tuesday. Instead of paying the entry tax, they were asked to operate by giving a declaration letter at the check posts. This relief is provided only to the petitioners and others may have to pay the tax as per the rules.
