grave yard andhra pradeshAmong several other hurdles before the Andhra Pradesh’s upcoming capital, the interesting ones will be the existing graveyards in the capital region. There are few burial grounds in the capital villages including a 200 year old burial ground belonging to Muslims.

Villagers often have emotional issues bonded with these graveyards which may hamper government from acquiring them. Andhra Pradesh government is already planning new cemeteries and graveyards in the new capital but is yet to make a decision about acquiring the current ones.

Christian and Muslim burial grounds will be major headaches since they are not likely to allow these graves to be relocated to elsewhere. Where as Hindus are little tolerant and say that cemeteries should be near the village limit. Since it is a sensitive issue, government will need to handle it with soft hands. It is said that the Chief Minister had already informed the Singapore Experts team sketching the Capital Master Plan that no graveyard or burial ground or any religious place should be disturbed
