Bottom line:
Satisfying Comeback by Yuvan.

The music of the most anticipated Telugu album is finally out. The soundtrack, which has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, features six songs ranging from folk rhythm to melody and peppy fast numbers. What makes this album exciting is the rare collaboration of Ram Charan and Yuvan Shankar Raja, who produces satisfying music, overall, on his comeback.
Hariharan has mastered the art of crooning the heart-touching, melodic slow numbers. He aces ‘Neeli Rangu’, first song of the album with ease and makes it one of the instantly likeable tracks from the album. Since it’s a slow number, it might take time to become a chartbuster, but give it time and it will grow on you.
Javed Ali’s ‘Gulabi’ is another slow-burner that makes you quickly fall in love with Yuvan’s talent to churn out romantic numbers very regularly. The song doesn’t feature a catchy tune, but Javed makes it endearing to listen with his unique voice.
Yuvan makes use of the popular Dharmavathi raga in ‘Ra Kumara’, beautifully crooned by Chinmayi, thanks to her Telugu roots; she gets the pronunciation of the lyrics perfectly right. She’s so used to singing such songs that she makes it look easily as one of the best songs of the film, provided the visuals do complete justice to it.
The next two songs – ‘Bangaari Baava’ and ‘Ko Ko Kodi’ are rather disappointing. They rely on Yuvan’s predictable rhythmic beats and sound similar to his own work from the past. These are the songs you don’t mind giving a miss in the album.
Yuvan gives the album a retro touch with ‘Prathi Chota’, the last song of the soundtrack. It’s an imaginative number that needs multiple hearing to be liked. It’s certainly not Yuvan’s best but this album reinforces our faith in him as a composer and son of legendary musician Illayaraja.
