Araku-Valley- gall-trainsIn a bid to develop the tourism, East Coast Railways is trying to get clearance for the proposal from Railway Board to use the glass coaches to make the passengers see through the scenic Agency areas on the Vizag-Araku-Kirandul passenger train. The proposal to attach glass coaches to the 14-coach Kirandul passenger train, which carries around 1,000 passengers daily and covers 469 km in three states – Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh, too is under active consideration.

East Coast Railways is also proposing a complete facelift of Vishakapatnam Railway Station. The station after the facelift will have a Tourist Information Centre at the station to garner information on tourist hotspots in and around the city, a swanky VIP lounge to chill out, escalators, retiring rooms, platform shelters, food plaza and drinking water coolers the station.

However there may not be new allocations from the center for this proposal, the East Coast Railways may have to use some part of the 695 Crore allocated for overall infrastructure development in Vizag in the railway budget. The proposal is pending a safety clearance from the Railway Board.
