TFI-on-STRIKE

Failure to reach a amicable solution between Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) and Telugu Film Producer’s Council culminated into a week-long strike leading to a stand still of all the activities in the Telugu Film Industry halting all the shootings and all other film related works. While the Film Federation is asking for pay hike and better living conditions for the workers, the producers’ council is quoting the present unseen slump in the industry and saying the demand for pay hike is unfair.

About 10,000 workers on strike, Tollywood literally came to a stand still. While the producers’ council has made some suggestions regarding daily wages hike and number of working hours, Film Federation still isn’t in a compromising mood and the demands for better wages suggested aren’t allowing an agreement towards coming to a solution. Both the parties are having their own arguments and concerns which seems to be reasonable from individual perspectives.

An industry as big as Tollywood, which is considered as one of the biggest film industries in the world can’t afford to go for a week-long bandh which would further weaken the overall lull in the industry. However, the talks between the two parties are still on and hopefully they would reach an empathetic solution which would benefit the industry in the long run, parallely taking care of the welfare of the workers.
