That 50 days and 100 days records are no longer a proper barometer to check the success of a film is thing that many acknowledge. But still there are many out there, among the fans and even among the filmmakers who try to have such records at the expense of personal loss. Today Rajamouli’s remarks exposed such false prestige and records.
The director’s latest film Baahubali has been a massive sensation worldwide and it completes its 50 days tomorrow. However there are no record 50 days centers for the film, as its running in just the places where there is still minimum share. In the past just a blockbuster successes used to have records in terms of run as well even if that meant dragging the film where it had no real shares. Rajamouli with Baahubali has officially exposed and ditched that tradition.
So despite having the highest share of all time Baahubali will have no record in terms of centers. Those records too of course happen to be accorded to SS Rajamouli films. While the 50 days and 100 days records are with Magadheera, silver jubilee record is with Simhadri.
Given such history behind him one can understand Rajamouli’s decision as he has been there done that but fans of Prabhas, not all but few segment, seems to have other view going by the historical success they have on hands. After all the box office record breaking Baahubali has done to their extreme delight, guess, they have to take a hard pass at this one.
