women drunk and drive cases rise in hyderabadIndicating a change in the lifestyle in the city, Hyderabad had seen a rise in the number of women booked in drunken driving cases. Hyderabad Police have booked 17 such cases in women way back in 2014 but this year, they have already booked 22 cases by September itself.

All of the women booked are from upper middle class or rich backgrounds and live in the surrounding areas of Banjara Hills, Gachibowli and Secunderabad. Incidentally all of them were driving four-wheelers and a majority of them were nabbed by Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills traffic cops.

The list of offenders comprises doctors, software engineers, businesswomen and even housewives. According to the data available with the police, youngest offender is a 21 year old while the oldest is a 35 years old house wife. However none of the women offenders have been given imprisonment and were let off with penalty and counseling.
