drunk-drive-vijayawadaDrunk driving is a major issue nowadays and with almost 60 perpetrators in Hyderabad, where 35 of them have been directed to do social service for three consecutive days for at least three hours and 4 sentenced to jail for 2-5 days, there are still 21 of them waiting for a verdict. Aside from these punishments, a fine of Rs 2000 has been imposed on all those violators of the law, as stated by the Hyderabad Police.

An official statement regarding the issue said, “Cases were booked against the accused that were found riding two-wheelers and driving three-wheelers, four-wheelers and other vehicles in drunken state…City Police have registered a total of 9,096 drunken driving cases, of which 1,188 drunken motorists have been imprisoned till date.”

The announcement mentioned the specifics that if the blood alcohol content of a person is more than 30 mg per 100 ml blood, he or she will be considered as intoxicated according to the Motor Vehicles Act under section 185.
