Teja comments on Pawan kalyan mahesh babuOnce Telugu Film Industry has made a record of making highest number of films in India even beating Bollywood regarding the quantity. TFI used to churn out approximately 300 films per year. Now the count has fell down to around 125 films per year.

Director Teja puts the blame on star heroes for this fall in the numbers. There was a time when star heroes like NTR, ANR, Krishna, Chiranjeevi and even comedians like Rajendra Prasad and Allari Naresh used to have four to six releases per year. Now the scenario has changed and stars are doing only limited number of films.

Teja takes the examples of stars like Mahesh who does a film in one year and Pawan Kalyan who comes up with only one film in two years. The result is, bad effect on viewership and many stopped coming to theatres to watch movies. Theaters are turning into halls or else used for other commercial purposes.

Teja’s states that current star heroes aren’t useful to the industry’s growth as they don’t make more films which would give livelihood to many technicians and junior artists in the industry. If they make more movies, these artists will have work throughout the year. Now the count of Telugu movies including dubbing films has come down to 120 from 300.
