This is one topic that always gets debated with no clear cut answers with various names cropping up from time to time. All this of course started post the self exile that Megastar Chiranjeevi has taken. However Dil Raju today made the heads turn when he openly declared the number 1 star in Tollywood currently.
The producer said that Pawan Kalyan is the number one in the industry currently as the star has been able to maintain his charisma and following despite no big success for a whole decade. Only one film Jalsa was successful in this time, he said, and yet Pawan Kalyan has continuously increased his fan following and thus he is the next number one star in Telugu cinema after the exit of Megastar, the director concluded.
With two films Gabbar Singh and Atharintiki Daredi in top 3 and continuous top openings for his films, additionally with a following that is constant be it Ceded or US, Nizam or Nellore, one would be hard pressed to contradict what the producer says. But at different points in the recent past various other names too have cropped up so do we need to wait for one more solid knockout punch or is it the time to declare, is something that the audience have to decide.
