RGV delhi court court case aag remakePeople close to eccentric director Ram Gopal Varma say that his biggest mistake as film maker was choosing to remake the Bollywood classic film of all times ‘Sholay’. The remake titled ‘RGV Ki Aag’ was a big disaster at the box-office and the film maker came under severe criticism for meddling with a classic film.

Even after so many years, the remake of the iconic film is haunting RGV. The Delhi High Court ordered a fine of Rs.10 lakhs on RGV for intentionally violating the copyrights of the film against the wishes of the makers and writers of the original without taking their permission.

The makers of the original approached High Court against RGV for deliberately copying the scenes, character names and even some iconic dialogues that became popular as ‘Sholay’ brand. Though RGV accepted for a title change and released his remake with a different title, his film looks like a copy instead of an inspiration opined the High Court.
