JayalalithaIt is once again confirmed that Indian voters do not bother about corruption as much as the other issues. AIADMK winning the Srirangam seat vacated due to conviction of former Chief Minister, J.Jayalalithaa is the best example of it. Bangalore Special Court decided that Jayalalithaa is on the wrong side.

She was sentenced to four years imprisonment in the disproportionate assets case, and slapped a staggering fine of Rs 100 crore in the corruption case. The other co-convicts were sentenced with four years jail and 10 Crores fine.As she was convicted she had to step down as the Chief Minister and was also disqualified for the Srirangam MLA.

In the byelection results that were out on Monday, Jaya’s party bagged the seat once again with a massive margin of 96,517 votes that outdid even Jayalalithaa’s 2011 margin of 41,848. The even better majority is only an indication that Sympathy outdid the corruption. Only Indians can sympathize with the corrupt!
