chinatown-in-amaravathiAndhra Pradesh’s upcoming State Capital is likely to have a China Town akin to those in Singapore and other countries. The China Town will have Chinese institutions, restaurants and shopping centers. The government had taken this decision so as to attract investments from China after the recent visit of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

The location of this China Town is not confirmed yet and will be decided after the consultations with Singapore team which is preparing the Master Plan of the capital. Along with this, the state government is in talks with the Central government regarding involve a Chinese firm that built 75 per cent of the “Three Gorges Dam” the world’s largest hydro power project in the construction of Polavaram project. The company has the history of completing huge projects at a very quick pace.

After introducing Japanese language in to the universities of the state, the government is also mulling the idea of introducing Chinese in universities in AP, including Andhra University in Vizag, Nagarjuna University in Guntur and SV University in Tirupati.
